Myth 1: You can make money overnight. While there is money and even good money with Internet marketing, you will not make money overnight. Like any business, it takes time and patience to get an internet marketing career going. Even the best case scenarios will take a minimum of two months to start producing income and sustainable income will take longer.
Myth 2: You do not need any skills to make money online. The truth is there are entire degrees in Internet marketing. However, you do not need a degree to get started. What you do need lissome basic computer skills and a willingness to learn as you go. What you need to learn will vary greatly depending on which aspect of internet marketing you choose.
Myth 3: You don’t need any money to start your business. In the most technical sense, this is true. You can start by using free websites and free hosting and then do everything yourself. However, it is not realistic to do business this way. At the very least, you will need to purchase a domain and a hosting service. This is not expensive but it is necessary to start making money online.
Myth 4: Programs will do all the work for you. While it is true programs are available to make just about everything easier, they will not do the work for you. You can purchase articles but you still need to read them. You can purchase backlinks but they are not the best. You can purchase keyword tools but you still need to run the programs. Basically, someone will have to know what is needed and then get everything done.
Myth 5: Multilevel marketing programs are all scams. There are many MLM scams out there and you do have to be careful of these get rich quick schemes. However, to say they are all scams is just not true. Tupperware is a very lucrative and legitimate MLM along with Pampered Chef and Mary Kay. The key to finding a food MLM is looking for one which sells products you would actually want to purchase. MLMs selling worthless products will not last and are often pyramid schemes.
Myth 6: Internet marketing is easy money. This myth is generally surrounded by hype about residual income. Residual income is easy, once it starts. However, you have to put in the work to get residual income to start flowing. Then, you have to keep adding to your business to sustain the income. You work hard to get the customers. Then, you can throttle back a bit to obtain new customers as old customers inevitably drop off. It is a never ending cycle, which does get easier over time.
